You will be given a scenario or situation, and your task is to write an email based on the given prompts and instructions. The email should be written in a formal or semi-formal style, depending on the instructions given. You will be provided with prompts, such as a recipient, a purpose, or specific information that should be included in the email.
Here's an example to help you understand:
Scenario: You are planning a team meeting to discuss a new project at work.
Prompts:
- Recipient: Your team members
- Purpose: To inform them about the meeting and provide necessary details
- Information to include: Date, time, location, agenda, and any additional instructions or documents they need to bring
Based on this scenario and prompts, you would need to write an email to your team members, providing them with the necessary information about the meeting.
(3) Practice The Task 1
1. Complain restaurant service letter.
Dear Mr.Rick.
I wish to make a formal complaint against your restaurant staff last Friday evening over their poor service, which spoiled my evening with my family.
I had already made a reservation of 5. My reservation was at 6pm and I arrived at 5.50pm. We were made to wait for an hour before we were seated.
In addition, I was greatly disappointed that my mother birthday was spoiled by the poor attitude of your staff. The table seating was meant for a party of 4, so my party and I were pretty cramped. The service was slow and no apologies or reasons for the delay in our food were given. The manager was no where in sight. It was certainly a bad first experience.
I hope that you will look into this matter and train your staff properly to have the appropriate behavior befitting the occasion. I am quite hesitant to return to your restaurant for future celebrations.
Sincerely,
Jame Robert
Tips
(1) Tips
1. Format the email
Begin the email with a formal salutation, such as 'Dear Team Members' or 'Dear Colleagues.' Use a proper email format with a clear subject line that reflects the purpose of the email.
2. Introduce yourself and the purpose
Briefly introduce yourself and state the purpose of the email. In the example scenario, you can mention your role and the new project you want to discuss.
3. Include the agenda
Outline the topics or agenda items that will be discussed during the meeting. Provide a brief overview of each item and mention the expected duration for each topic if applicable. This helps the recipients prepare and know what to expect during the meeting.
4. Use a professional tone
Maintain a professional and polite tone throughout the email. Be clear and concise in your communication, avoiding unnecessary jargon or overly complex language. Use proper grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure.
5. Close the email
End the email with a closing phrase such as 'Best regards,' 'Sincerely,' or 'Thank you,' followed by your name and position. If appropriate, include your contact information.
6. Proofread
Before submitting your final email, review it for any errors or typos. Make sure the email is well-structured, coherent, and conveys the intended message effectively.
Regular practice in writing professional emails, understanding email etiquette, and structuring your messages appropriately will help you excel in CELPIP Writing Task 1.
(2) Key points
- There are many cases where the customer complaints (moving, restaurant, shopping, etc.) are presented. However, as the CELPIP problem develops in the future, various types of problems are expected.
- Letter of other children charity fund raising activity (group introduction, activity plan, request of fund and use of fund), automobile accident report etc.
- Because the current issues should include the three things mentioned in the email,
- 1Opening + Background / Facts
- 2Problem / Evaluation
- 3Can be viewed as Solution + Closing (In some cases the problem may be the background itself)
- About the contents of each structure
How to make Details / Contents (3 minutes)> Writing (22 minutes)> Sentence inspection (5 minutes)
- Do not try to contain too much content because 150 characters are written more than you think. Focus on writing exactly one or two sentences about some key points.
- Opening and Closing can save time by knowing in advance through example sentences. Opening and closing statements are not necessary if the contents of the text are filled in.
- You could use them by not copying them. Do it with your own words(Paraphrasing).Practice your own time arrangements through simulated writing before the exam is absolutely necessary.

Answer 1
Dear Mr./Ms. Manager
I am interested in an opportunity to volunteer with the CELPIP-TIP organization. I have significant experience working with children, and would like to continue to do so in a volunteer capacity.
I volunteered as a teacher’s aide at the Canada School and enjoyed being able to help kindergarteners learn during their first experience in a class room. In this position, I assisted with classroom projects, provided one-on-one literacy tutoring to the children, and chaperoned field trips.
For the past several winters, I volunteered with children on the slopes of a local ski resort, assisting coaches with teaching basic skiing to toddlers and elementary school age children.
I believe it would be an excellent opportunity to develop my interest in early childhood education, a field I wish to study and pursue professionally in the future.
My schedule is flexible and I am available to volunteer both evening and weekend hours, as well as during the day. Please feel free to reach out to me via email or cell phone.
Thanks for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Sincerely,
Answer 2
Dear Mr.Manager,
I am interested in opportunities that may be available to volunteer at the CELPIP-TIP organization.
As a long-time advocate of the needs and welfare of the elderly in our community, I have experience working with senior citizens and would be thrilled to continue to do so in a volunteer capacity.
In this position, I assisted program participants with recreational projects, contributed to program planning and strategy sessions, and accompanied group field trips to local musical events and museums. I also participated in fundraising and community outreach initiatives.
I enjoy dealing with other people and working with others. I like to be able to share my experiences with others as they need it and feel that this is a good way of making people enjoy a day out.
Since my school starts in September, I can volunteer from June to the end of August near CELPIP downtown.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
